I Listen, Act, and Transform
I am an expert in assisting individuals who are feeling stuck, unsure how they got here or how to move forward.
Together we will embark on a collaborative and empowering journey towards your goals. As part of my approach, I will send you relevant information and resources to help you track your progress and continue to learn and grow. Throughout our work together, you will develop a new language and uncover solutions that work specifically for you. With 20 years of experience in working with severe trauma and combat veterans, as well as their partners, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our sessions. Understanding how the brain processes information and how the body stores stress is essential to your healing, and I prioritize this understanding in my approach. I have a strong background in Cognitive Therapy, Dialytic Therapies, Prolonged Exposure, and Mindfulness. I find it especially meaningful to help those navigating emotionally abusive relationships find their way back to find themselves again.
A Little About Me
As a therapist, my core values are rooted in my unwavering commitment to fighting for social justice. This passion was fueled at an early age by becoming a jockey in the early 1970’s and fighting for the right to compete equally alongside men in sport. Decades later, at the start of my therapy career, I pledged publicly to take a stand against hate and work for justice and tolerance. As a result my name was added alongside other pledges on The Wall of Tolerance in DC, a campaign chaired by Rosa Parks at the time.
Alongside my commitment to social justice, I hold a strong work ethic, valuing hard work, dedication, and perseverance in achieving my goals. I believe that success is a product of consistent effort, and I strive to maintain this level of excellence in all aspects of my work as a therapist.
How We Work Together
Our first session is like having a casual conversation. You are free to express yourself in a safe place without judgment. Your story is important, and I am all ears.
We then get down to strategizing setting goals you can reach.
I help you track this progress so you can synergize off these successes. I help you develop a new language and uncover new insights into solutions that work for you.
My virtual sessions are held in a secure site where you can feel just like in a therapist’s office. You can book a consultation to briefly chat about pressing concerns and find the best possible time for a session. I save open times each week for new appointments. Still Hesitant
Many people feel hesitant to try therapy because they feel it is a sign of weakness, or that they should be able to solve their problems on their own. Understand first, the seeking therapy comes from a place of intelligence and strength. It is a courageous step towards inner growth., broadening awareness and expanded opportunities.
Next, find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and like. I'm always careful to provide a perspective in line with my client's personality, thereby producing ultimate outcomes.
Third take it one step at a time; starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but it is important to remember you don't have to work on everything all at once.
Lastly, be open to the process; therapy and understand it may take some time to see results. Be open to this self-discovery. trust that with time and effort, you will be able to make progress towards your ultimate goal.
